Legendary investor Howard Marks's approach to investing when people started talking end of the world in 2008-2009.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Howard Marks asked two questions:
- Will the financial world end? - It doesn't end.
- Should we buy or not? - If we invest and financial markets end, it doesn't matter anyway. But, if it doesn't end, we didn't do our job.
The analysis was rather simple that we'd to buy. It almost didn't matter what you did as long as you bought. It was a point in time where you don't need conservatism, caution, risk control, discipline, patience, selectivity. All that you need is money and nerve to invest.
